Who are the lions?

Lions Clubs international is the world’s largest service club organisation.

Lions are an international network of over 1.3 million men and women in over 44,00 clubs in 200+ countries, who work together through selfless, effective community service to answer the needs that challenge communities. Lions are individuals who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes in their local and global communities, conducting and supporting vision and health screenings, building parks, awarding scholarships, assisting youth, providing help in times of disaster and much more.

In the British Isles, Ireland and the rest of Europe, Lions donate over 5.7 hours and £88 million to humanitarian causes each year.

As a member of a Lions Club you become aware of the needs of your community and have the opportunity to make a difference. Each Club provides volunteers with project management experience, leadership training, personal development opportunities and organised fundraising programmes.

Being a Lion empowers you to help others in a way that no one person could do alone.

Bungay Lions Club

The Bungay Area Lions Club was chartered in 1974. It’s members all wishing to help the less fortunate people within the Bungay area. There aims were simple:

  • Community Service
  • Fund-raising to help the less fortunate with the community and further afield
  • and have fun and fellowship whist doing it

The Bungay Area Lions Club has continued to go from strength to strength and after 45 years the same aims are still holding true.

The Club is always looking for new members and will offer a warm welcome to all visitors. Regular meetings are held at 8 pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at the Royal British Legion Club, 7 Priory Lane, Bungay, NR35 1DB

Lion Zara and Lion Ian are part of the Bungay club and are completing the JOGLE  walk to raise funds to buy equipment that will help people recovering from brain injuries in the Bungay area and also for Lions Charitable purposes.

When Zara joined the Bungay Lions club it was a family gone full circle as her father Lion Peter Dyer was President of the Club when Zara was born.
