Giant Bugs in the Woods

We had a rest day yesterday which was very much needed after the frustration of days 27 & 28. Milton Keynes Central Lions club have arrange overnight parking for us so we took advantage of that to have a chilled out day getting a hair cut, going to the cinema, (the first time since lockdown began) and fitting in a cheeky Nandos! So we’re all refreshed and raring to go.

After parking up in Woburn and getting a lift to Wing (thanks to MKC Lions) we set off, and after a couple of miles we’re faced again with a road closed sign! Now this is just getting ridiculous. The trouble with the S2S challenge has been finding paths, bridleways and roads that go across the country. You’d think that there would be loads but that just isn’t the case. After looking at the map it looks as though the closure may be at a railway bridge so we decide to risk it and push on. We arrive at the closure to find, 3 cones, a barrier and no workmen! Not too closed then! The bridge also goes over the Grand Union Canal and the tow path looks great but unfortunately it’s going the wrong way

The route is taking us through a country park which has lovely manicured paths, not too many hills and well signed posted routes. It’s bliss!

Dotted around the park are sculptures made out of all things natural and fit in with the surroundings. Im sure Zara was just making sure that it wasn’t going to eat her!

As we end up walking back through the Woburn Estate we see the Abbey in the distance which rounds off the mornings walk well. Our spirits are up and the disappointment of the last few days seems a lifetime ago. We give a presentation to Biggleswade Lions in the evening which rounds off the day, and they make a very generous donation to help us in raising 1 million pennies.
